December Speaker Dr Gerard Ibarra

Reliability In Logistics

Thursday, December 17, 2009

Reliability analysis is a useful technique for measuring the performance of components over time.  It is also useful for determining the reliability of a system.  Increased reliability results in greater value to the Customer.  In this presentation, we will discuss ways to define and measure the reliability of a logistics system.  We will present the ways in which a logistics system can significantly impact the reliability of other systems and the overall cost of a project.  We will then discuss solutions that can improve the reliability of a logistics system, resulting in great overall cost savings to a project and in greater value being delivered to the Customer.

Dr. Gerard Ibarra was the President and CEO of Buildwave Technologies, Inc., a software and technology company that provides solutions to help companies identify, track, and analyze the events generated by their systems.  He and his partner sold Buildwave on July 31, 2009, to iWave Software, LLC.  Previously, he ran his own consulting business focusing on logistics systems engineering, life cycle costs analysis, and marketing.  He has worked in the logistics, business operations, and marketing fields.  He received his Ph.D. in Applied Science from Southern Methodist University, where he also received an M.S. in Systems Engineering and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.  He is an adjunct professor in the graduate engineering and business programs for SMU and the University of Dallas, respectively.
